A hospital takes a lot from a kid.
It takes their room, their friends, their routine, the food they like, the noise they are used to. It takes choice — what to wear, when to sleep, who comes through the door. Most of what is left is beige.
We cannot give any of that back. What we can do is send something that is unmistakably theirs.
A print of a superhero is not medicine. Nobody is pretending it is.
But it is the one thing in that room that nobody prescribed. It was made by hand, by a person, on purpose. It says: someone who has never met you spent hours on this, because you are worth it.
Kids know the difference between something given out and something meant for them.
The paintings are made by adults with special needs.
That is not a footnote — it is the whole point. These are people the world has spent a long time describing by what they cannot do. Here, they are the ones with something to give. They are not the cause. They are the heroes in this story, and a child in a hospital bed is holding the proof.
That is the exchange we care about. It runs both directions.
Since 2016 we have sent art to more than 25 hospitals, from California to Chicago down to Texas — and to police stations, disability centers, orphanages, and other charities working with kids.
Volunteers have given more than 13,000 hours to make that happen.
We want to teach art, not just deliver it. To children, to people with special needs, and to anyone who wants to make something. People of all abilities, making art. That is the program we want most, and it is what we are raising money toward.
$15 a month sends one hand-painted print to a child in a hospital, every month. The painting goes to the child. Each month we email you a photo of it, so you can see the hero you sponsored.
